Family Feast A Great Success!!!
Thanks to
everyone who supported our 11th Annual Family Feast
Fundraiser. Many of you helped by making prize
donations, donations of food and drinks, attending
the dinner, buying raffle tickets, bidding for
auction items, and making monetary donations. This
was the first year we held the event on the Wilson
campus and we hit several records. Our paid
attendance was the highest ever at 146. The overall
total of a little over $5000 earned between the
dinner, raffle, and auctions eclipsed past totals by
over $1500. We look forward to building on this
success next year!
Helen
Holthouser Passes Away
Helen Holthouser passed away on Wednesday, February 1,
2012. Helen was a teacher aide in the Special
Education department at Wilson, primarily working
with current teacher, Ed Dial and his son, Lincoln.
She was married to Jack Holthouser. Their children
attended Wilson High School and two were a part of
the RWMA; Kenny was a percussionist in the Band, and
Diane was a member of the Drill Team. Along with her
husband, Helen and Jack were very active boosters
and very close friends with former band director,
Gil Adams. Together, they traveled on several Band
trips including trips to Australia, England,
Scotland, Spain, Hawaii, and Washington D.C. for
President Reagan? second inauguration. Their son,
Kenny, was involved in an accident when he was a
student that resulted in a metal plate being placed
in his head. He later was working out in the sun and
experienced sunstroke, resulting in a coma from
which he never recovered from. The Kenneth
Holthouser Memorial Scholarship was established by
the Holthousers and is given to a hardworking
graduating senior in the RWMA, not necessarily the
most talented or one with high academic marks. In
March 2010, Jack passed away. Ever since, Helen had
been struggling with health issues. In her last
couple of days, Helen had been in a coma. She passed
away peacefully with her daughter Diane and son
Marty at her bedside.
